Installation of the drive connection

If you have a dual twisted pair cable, connect both wires of the second twisted pair to

ground.

The shields of all RS-485 network cables should be connected together. They

should be connected to only one device, for example the last drive of the network.

Connecting to multiple panel ports with RS-232/RS-485 converters

The panel ports of ACS350 and ACS/ACH550 drives, for example, communicate by

using the RS-232 protocol. Since RS-232 is designed only for point-to-point

applications, panel ports can not be used directly to connect multiple drives to

SREA-01. The communication protocol implementation of the panel ports, however,

supports multi-drop networks. Therefore it is possible to connect multiple drive panel

ports to a SREA-01 unit if standard RS-232/RS-485 converters are used.

To create a network of multiple drives by using panel ports, you need as many

RS-232/RS-485 converters as there are drives in your setup. Connect each panel

port to the RS-232 side of a converter and then connect the RS-485 sides to a

network. Attach the SREA-01 to this RS-485 network. See the following schematic.
